Taking The Bus (the public bus system of Oahu) to campus

O‘ahu’s bus system, logically dubbed “TheBUS,” offers island-wide service. The Bus now offers Holo Cards, which allow you to tap on and off of the bus instead of paying in cash each time. Holo Cards can be purchased at numerous locations in Waikiki. You can load your card at the same locations where you purchase them. After making an account online, you can also load your card digitally on your phone or computer.

Route and Schedule Information: (808) 848-5555. Website: http://www.thebus.org

Download DaBus2-The Oahu Bus app on your phone to locate stops and see live GPS of your bus’ arrival! Otherwise, click here for bus route timetables.

If you are traveling with a holo card, you automatically earn a day pass after your second ride and travel the rest of the day free. This amounts to $5.50 per day.

One-way fare for TheBus:

  • $2.75 for adults
  • $1.25 for youths (children 5 and under free)
  • $1.00 for seniors & persons with Disability ID cards

Exact change is required when paying in cash.

Bus lines that service the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa include A, #4, and #13 (best option between Waikiki and UH). Note the maps below for locations of the best stops to get off at once you arrive on campus, and how to walk to Campus Center from each stop:

Other options include Uber and Lyft for convenient ride sharing service.
