What is LSH? We are a student and faculty-run, voluntary organization aimed at promoting both academic and social activity among students and others with linguistic interests in Hawai'i. Our events include organizing student orientations, community service activities, speaker series, a Halloween party and Spring Ling Thing, workshops, bake/book sale and a bunch of other exciting activities. We also help in organizing the annual College of Languages, Linguistics, and Literature Student Conference (LLL Conference). We are a Registered Independent Organization (RIO) which also serves as a representative for a Department's interests in such organizations as the Graduate Student Organization (GSO). We are an active and excited bunch who love linguistics and its impact on society. Our membership is now growing to include alumni and friends of the Department as well as interested undergraduates. Membership dues are presently $8 a year for students and $18 for faculty and friends. Please join us in making Linguistics fun, accessible, and exciting for the Hawai'i community. |
